Where are Today’s Civil rights leaders on Africa?

Recently, a group of African diaspora in the United States met with California Congresswoman Karen Bass who is now running for Mayor of Los Angeles. Bass was on the House Foreign Relations Committee, but when asked about a House bill that targeted Africa and its connection with Russia, she didn’t seem to be aware of the bill.

However, it turns out Congresswoman Bass is one of the co-sponsors of HR7311 “Countering Malign Russian Activities in Africa Act.” The primary sponsor is New York Congressman Gregory Meeks. Both congresspeople are African American. There appears to be a pattern of African Americans in the U.S. congress being the faces of anti-Africa policies. What does that mean? Didier Gondola, Professor of African History at Johns Hopkins University and Professor Teylama Miabey, President of the National Congress For Democracy join journalist Hermela Aregawi to discuss.
